The unique combination of the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and turbo-charged horizontally opposed Boxer Engine in the third generation Impreza WRX STI  has been complemented by a number of exciting technologies designed to deliver superb performance and total driving control in even the most challenging of driving conditions. With the World Rally Championship circuit as the testing ground of choice for the past 13 years, STI and the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) have been able to directly influence the design the New Generation Impreza WRX STI into the most refined and exhilarating driving machine developed yet.

Impreza WRX STI features a number of innovative technologies designed to maximise overall vehicle performance including handling, stability, safety, ride comfort and design quality. That’s why every Impreza WRX STI comes with a 2.5 litre turbo-charged horizontally opposed Boxer engine producing 221 kW of power and 407 Nm of torque, a Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD), Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive), Subaru Intelligent Chassis (SIC), multi-mode VDC stability control (VDC) and of course the legendary Subaru constant All Wheel Drive system - a performance package unmatched by any sports car under $100,000.

Chassis

An inverted strut suspension type has been featured on the new STI. On top of the improved stability performance yielded by the wider track and shorter overhangs, the road-holding ability of the tyres has been greatly improved by optimising the suspension geometry, including toe and camber angles, andstretching the suspension stroke.
