Subaru prices electric Trailseeker for Australia

SUBARU Australia has opened the order book for its incoming Trailseeker fully electric large SUV available in two variants, the Trailseeker AWD from $67,990 and Trailseeker AWD Touring from $73,990 (both excluding on-road costs).

 

The Japanese manufacturer says its high riding new model, underpinned by the same platform as its own smaller Solterra BEV and the related Toyota bZ4X, is a high-performance electric wagon positioned as the most powerful and capable EV in the brand’s local line-up to date.

 

Badged E-Outback in some markets, Trailseeker is due in dealerships in coming weeks with a quick scan of the current new car price schedule revealing no direct competitors at the same money in the large SUV segment, the closest being Kia’s EV6 AWD from $87,660.

 

Subaru says the Trailseeker, potentially a spiritual successor to the loved Outback wagon, sits above the mid-size Solterra and the recently revealed small Uncharted as part of Subaru’s expanding fully electric range.

 

At its core is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing a combined 280kW, enabling a claimed 0-100km/h sprint in about 4.5 seconds.

 

Electrons are supplied by a 74.7kWh CATL-sourced battery pack, delivering a WLTP driving range of up to 533km in standard form, or 488km in higher-spec Touring guise.

 

Subaru says the Trailseeker has been engineered to maintain its hallmark all-terrain capability, with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, dual-mode X-Mode and 211mm of ground clearance supporting off-road performance.

 

The low-mounted battery and e-Subaru Global Platform are also aimed at improving on-road dynamics, with the brand emphasising a balance between performance and stability.

 

Charging capability includes up to 150kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10-80 per cent top-up in around 30 minutes, alongside 22kW three-phase AC charging.

 

Visually, the Trailseeker departs from traditional upright SUV proportions, adopting a lower, wider stance with a coupe-like roofline and full-width lighting signatures front and rear while inside, a 14.0-inch infotainment display is paired with a 7.0-inch driver display, with physical controls retained for key functions. 

 

Standard equipment includes dual wireless charging, a digital rear-view mirror and a suite of Subaru’s latest safety technologies.

 

The flagship AWD Touring variant adds larger 20-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof, upgraded audio and ventilated front seats, along with vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.

 

With strong performance credentials and “genuine” off-road capability, the Trailseeker targets Subaru buyers seeking a more adventurous alternative in the electric SUV segment.

 

Subaru Australia general manager Scott Lawrence said the Trailseeker blends performance and practicality in a way not typically seen in the EV segment.

 

“We believe it sets a new benchmark for what an electric vehicle can be,” he said.
